The US Army

The birth date of the US army is the spring of June 14,1775. the US army is resposible

for the land based military operation. The creation of the US army in 1775 was to meet the

demands of the american revolutionary war, before the birth of the united states. The US army

 provides primary missions and necessary forces and capabilites. and also supports the

national seurity, and defese stratigies.

          The most importanrt events and dates are the begining of the establishment of the U.S. Army.

Such as the Revolutionary war 1775-1783,The battle of fort ticonderoges on may 10th 1775.

On July 14th 1775, Te infantry branch was established in the U.S. Army. The U.S Army was created

by the second continental congress. The Declaration of Indendence was established on

July 4th of 1776, also George Washinton was the first comander and cheif of the contiental army.

 

 

 

The two famous leaders of the US Army:

 George Washington, he became the first comander and cheif of the continental army in 1775.

 

Winfield Scott (1786-1866)

He was known as " Old FussFeathers" he was born outside of Petersburg, VA and studied law 

until 1807. Scott enlisted in calvary,he was so that he had to transfer to the light artillery as a 

captian. After the victory of Chippawa  Onyario caption Scott  he got his rank moved up and became 

major general on June 25th,1814.




Famous battles:


Invasion of Normandy- The famous landing at Normandy in order to bring allied troops into france, also called D-Day.

Battle of Gettysburg- The union victory over the confederate forces also led to Abraham Lincoln giving his famous Gettysburg Address speech

Battle of Antietam- The first battle of the civil war on northern soil, and where President Lincoln announce the Emancipation Proclamation.

The U.S. AirForce was created as a separate service from the army on september 18,1947.

In the past they used air planes to throw out chocolate bars to the soviet union. But now the

airforce is resposible for domestic security in witch stratigic air commands. Which they do missile

attacks as well conducting space surveillence. Most of the time the Airforce gives assistance

to the army to drop bombs and pick up troops.

On November 26,1958 from Cape Canaveral,Fla. an operational Thor missile completed its first

successful launch. But two years before the first successful launch in 1958, Secretary of Defense

Charles E. Wilson issued a "Roles and Mission" memo to the Armed Forces Policy council to fix

jurisdiction over missile development. This gave the U.S. Air Force control of surface-to-surface

missiles with ranges over 200 miles and surface-to-air.Mssiles with ranges over 100 miles, while

the Army controlled missiles with ranges less than 200 and 100 miles, respectively.

Famous planes

North American P-51 Mustang ww2 - the Mustang was a symbol of American airpower. It was a formidable adversary to the German fighters that had been shooting down RAF and other USAAF planes repeatedly.The P-51 Mustang remained in service with the USAF until 1957                              

Republic P-47 Thunderbolt - the Thunderbolt was excellent at ground attack and bomber escort. Weighing in at nearly 7 tons with thick armor plating and a heavily-armored engine, the P-47 could withstand massive damage from Axis anti-aircraft guns, but was most famous for its ground attack capabilities

Lockheed P-38 Lightning-  A top of the line fighter, the P-38 outperformed its original expectations when it was first released into combat in 1939. The P-38 was the first successful twin-engine fighter, and it amazingly out powered its enemies in the skies over Europe and the Pacific.

US Navy      

On October 13, 1775 the U.S Navy was born. The first ships in the Navy were two vessels armed with ten carriage guns, as well as swivel guns. These vessels were manned by crews of only 80 men. The Continental Congress sent out these vessels. The  Navy was established to be sent out on a cruise of three months to intercept transports carrying supplies to the British army in America. Today the role of the Navy is to protect the United States waters.

The Navy is seperated by two periods, the "old" period and the "new" period. The old period was respected however was not as strong as opposing forces. The "Old Navy" was responsible for destroying ships carrying supplies to the British Army. Eventually the U.S Navy became one of the largest and most technologically advanced in the world. Today, the U.S Navy is considered the superpower of the world.

 October 13 1775 is know as the start of the U.S Navy. The U.S Navy became the largest in the world by the 1920s. The Attach on Pearl Harbor, December 7 1941, was an attach led by Japan that started the largest naval battle in history. In 1978 Ronald Reagan instituted a a modern 600 ship Navy.

 Esek Hopkins: first Commander and Cheif of the Navy.

 John Paul Jones: founder of the American Naval tradition.

Hyman G. Rickover:  Admiral, "Father of the Nuclear Navy"

Famous Battles of the U.S Navy:

Attack on Pearl Harbor: An attack on the U.S led by Japan, this attach pulled the U.S into WWII

Battle of Midway: A battle that is regarded as the most important Naval battle of WWII

Battle of the Coral Sea: A battle between Japan and the U.S in which Japan destroyed more ships however the U.S was able to stop their expantion.
